Astellas Pharma Canada is currently seeking a Clinical Science Liaison who will report to the Associate Director of Medical Science Liaisons. Preference will be given to candidates residing in British Columbia or Alberta.

Position Overview

The Clinical Science Liaison (CSL) acts as the field-based scientific and medical authority, fulfilling the CSL mandate of promoting non-promotional scientific dialogue and translating scientific insights into patient value, in alignment with Astellas' strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop and execute a Stakeholder Engagement Plan that addresses the medical needs of stakeholders, aligned with the Therapeutic Area (TA) Medical Affairs strategic framework.
  • Establish and nurture trusted relationships with medical stakeholders to deliver timely, non-promotional scientific value aimed at enhancing patient care.
  • Represent Astellas Medical Affairs at pertinent provincial HTA and payer forums, coordinating necessary resources and clinical insights to foster collaboration.
  • Analyze the medical and healthcare landscape, including health technology assessment (HTA) and payer dynamics, to implement a regional MSL strategy addressing scientific and HEOR gaps.

Research Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Research Operations to identify and assess research capabilities within the designated region.
  • Identify potential investigators for forthcoming research initiatives based on established criteria.
  • Lead regional profiling efforts and communicate insights effectively.
  • Provide therapeutic area expertise for study sites as required throughout the research process.
  • Support Investigator Sponsored Research requests as necessary.

Medical Strategy Deliverables:

  • Interpret and communicate stakeholder insights from field interactions to inform the medical strategy.
  • Identify and support scientific meetings at international, national, and regional levels, collecting insights from sessions and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate regional expert meetings, HTA and payer discussions, and internal training sessions on various topics.
  • Engage in additional TA/HEOR or departmental initiatives as required.
  • Assist in creating content for strategic MSL activities, including expert and payer meetings.
  • Act as a strategic liaison with provincial HTA and payer stakeholders to ensure their perspectives are integrated into HEOR and Medical Affairs plans.
  • Develop and share best practices to enhance MSL regional initiatives.

Scientific Exchange Activities:

  • Present scientific data in various forums as requested by stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and formulary committees.
  • Discuss approved scientific information regarding Astellas products and disease management concepts with stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities for regional Medical Education events that align with the Medical Affairs TA Strategic Plan and collaborate on program development.
  • Identify gaps in non-promotional medical materials and lead the development of content to meet therapeutic area needs.

Medical Governance Expertise:

  • Maintain advanced scientific knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas, Astellas products, and competitor offerings.
  • Establish effective communication with internal stakeholders to support business needs.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Astellas Medical Governance, global and local SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with medical governance standards and adherence to the corporate code of ethics in all activities.
