Position Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician Student will assist in delivering safe and effective medication distribution services across various facilities. This role provides opportunities to gain insights into geriatrics, palliative care, and mental health medications while developing precise checking skills to support final checks in compounding, compliance packaging, and other prescription needs.

Daily Responsibilities as a Pharmacy Technician Student:

Collaborate with pharmacy team members to ensure accurate, safe, and timely dispensing of medication orders while enhancing medication continuity and resident outcomes. Execute daily responsibilities in alignment with established workplace policies and procedures. Consult with pharmacy management regarding unresolved issues related to daily operations. Deliver exceptional customer service to long-term care homes and retirement communities serviced by CareRx Pharmacy, providing necessary support to ensure high-quality care and service. Maintain professional communication with all members of the resident care team, adhering to corporate policies to uphold the highest standards of customer care, optimal resident care, and quality pharmacy service. Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation as required. Ensure accurate, organized, and complete resident health records, maintaining appropriate documentation and continuity of care. Adhere to all provincial and federal laws, standards, and regulations governing pharmacy practice. Follow corporate regulations, policies, and procedures consistently. Assist in monitoring and maintaining pharmacy inventory. Engage in training and support for new and existing pharmacy team members as needed. Participate in ongoing education to stay current with pharmaceutical, medical, and professional licensing information, as well as corporate updates and standards. Prepare and compound medications when necessary. Uphold a clean and safe working environment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (RPhT). Proven ability to build strong partnerships with healthcare team members. Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills. High proficiency in both written and spoken English. Capability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at various professional levels. Self-directed with minimal supervision required, demonstrating independence. Driven to achieve results that reflect a high standard of quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Kroll and Point Click Care (PCC). Experience with Med e-care. Knowledge of PACMed/PACVision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Understanding of provincial regulations governing long-term care homes and retirement communities.
