Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatrist to join our team at Homewood Health Centre. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing clinical psychiatric care to patients in our Assessment and Stabilization Unit and Comprehensive Psychiatric Care units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical psychiatric care to patients, including admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, referral, daily care, and discharge.
  • Diagnose and manage complex psychiatric disorders, including medication management and referral to specialized services as needed.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care and develop treatment plans.
  • Document patient care and treatment plans in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide education and training to patients, families, and healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent body acceptable to the Royal College.
  • Experience in the diagnosis and management of complex psychiatric disorders and comorbid mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
