Overview:
The Public Relations Coordinator plays a crucial role in enhancing and safeguarding the Winnipeg Indigenous Friendship Centre Inc.'s image and standing through various communication platforms. This position provides strategic direction and assistance to the Centre's leadership and program personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans that foster trust within the community and elevate brand visibility among a varied audience.
- Safeguard the integrity of the Winnipeg Indigenous Friendship Centre Inc.'s brand, ensuring consistency across all materials, including the creation of templates for promotional items and the acquisition of marketing resources.
- Draft and distribute press releases, media kits, newsletters, and other promotional content.
- Strategically plan and oversee social media initiatives, contests, and campaigns across all digital platforms associated with the Centre.
- Supervise and mentor communications team members and external consultants.
- Perform additional communication and administrative duties as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Indigenous cultural values and community challenges.
- A degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- In-depth understanding of communication strategies and methodologies.
- At least 5 years of experience in a communications-related role.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on writing and editing.
- Proven project management and organizational capabilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with social media platforms.
- Competence in Microsoft Office 365, WordPress, Adobe Creative Cloud, media monitoring tools, and other public relations software.
- Experience in desktop publishing, document design, and basic graphic design is advantageous.
- Ability to capture high-quality images and produce video and audio content is a plus.
- Capacity to meet stringent deadlines and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Must undergo Criminal/Prior Contact and Child Abuse Registry checks.
