Job Overview
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Specialist is responsible for the upkeep and servicing of ground support and aircraft maintenance equipment in alignment with company standards, protocols, and manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine and preventive maintenance, including repairs and servicing of equipment Prepare, paint, or clean both the interior and exterior of ground support machinery Engage in minor fabrication tasks, such as constructing baggage carts and aircraft tow bars Diagnose, repair, install, and maintain various electrical systems and components in compliance with relevant codes and maintenance protocols Troubleshoot, install, and repair hydraulic systems, hoses, and associated equipment Participate in the maintenance of all company vehicles at the designated base Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform necessary maintenance and servicing Execute general and preventive maintenance on ground support vehicles and equipment Utilize a range of hand and power tools, electrical meters, and material handling equipment in daily tasks Identify faulty operations and defective materials, reporting any unusual situations to the appropriate supervision Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment Update and manage information in company records systems and departmental databases Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available for the maintenance department Collaborate with staff and management to report or receive updates on equipment issues Complete all necessary documentation and records related to departmental activities Maintain an inventory of new equipment, manuals, and warranties Uphold the company's commitment to customer care for both internal and external stakeholders Perform any other related duties as assignedRequired Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. 2-4 years of prior maintenance experience or completion of a relevant journeyman certification in vehicle, heavy equipment, or small engine trades A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary operational licenses are mandatory. Capability to meet security requirements for obtaining restricted access is essential. Welding skills are advantageous Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Proficient in multitasking and setting priorities Capable of organizing maintenance schedules and documentation in a dynamic environment Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Excellent time management and project coordination skills High level of independent judgment and troubleshooting capability Ability to perform well under pressure Attention to detail is crucial Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word) and email communication First Aid certification is considered a plus Ability to maintain confidentiality Skilled in dealing with individuals in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner. Proficiency in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset. Previous experience in the airline industry is beneficial. Knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.Working Environment
