Qualifications

Work Environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and modify routes using navigation technology to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
  • Load and unload materials as required.
  • Operate and drive both straight and articulated trucks for transporting goods.
  • Inspect vehicle conditions, including tires, lights, and brakes, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Conduct brake adjustments and perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary.
  • Carry out pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing all vehicle operations.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively with central dispatch regarding operational updates.
  • Document cargo details, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping techniques.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must possess a valid Class 1/1F/A Licence for semi-trailer trucks.
Equipment and Technology
  • Experience operating dump trucks is essential.
  • Familiarity with GPS and other navigation systems is required.
Safety and Compliance
  • Must pass a criminal record check and a driving record check (abstract).
  • Drug testing is mandatory.
Transportation Requirements
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
Physical Demands
  • This position is physically demanding and requires prolonged sitting.
Tools and Equipment
  • Personal tools include a cellular phone, hard hat, steel-toed safety boots, safety vest, and gloves.
Work Conditions
