Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our team as a Gerontology Specialist. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, while also contributing to the development and implementation of care plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident
  • Supervise and mentor unregulated staff and students in the unit
  • Communicate effectively with families and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Current Certificate of Competence in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Specialization in Gerontology an asset
  • Previous experience in a long-term care setting
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Good leadership skills
  • Proven clinical experience with a resident-centred care focus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interprofessional team
