Lead Cloud Optimization Program Manager

We are looking for a highly qualified and seasoned Lead Cloud Optimization Program Manager to spearhead our newly initiated Cloud Efficiency Initiative. As the head of this program, you will be tasked with designing and overseeing a thorough initiative aimed at enhancing our cloud and vendor expenditures, establishing a streamlined cost-management framework, and driving strategic transformations throughout the organization to secure long-term savings for the enterprise.

This position allows for flexibility in work location, with options for fully remote, partially remote, or fully office-based environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Direction: Formulate, execute, and oversee the Cloud Efficiency Initiative. Establish program objectives, strategies, and success indicators to minimize and enhance cloud and vendor expenditures.
  • Team Management: Provide leadership for a dedicated team of 2-3 individuals focused on managing and refining platform costs. Identify areas for improvement in cost measurement, budget compliance, monitoring, and resource utilization optimization.
  • Cost Reduction: Evaluate current cloud usage, vendor agreements, and expenses. Pinpoint inefficiencies and devise strategies to optimize resources and curtail unnecessary costs.
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects within the initiative, ensuring timely completion, scope management, and budget compliance. Employ agile methodologies to track and manage project progress.
  • Reporting and Monitoring: Take ownership of the reporting framework, including cost attribution tracking, monitoring, and alert systems. Provide regular updates to senior management on the initiative's status, accomplishments, and areas needing improvement.
  • Strategic Guidance: Develop and maintain the overarching strategy for cloud cost management across the organization. Proactively identify improvement opportunities, escalate issues to leadership, and advocate for necessary changes across products and teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with various business units to balance centralized cost management systems with the autonomy of individual units.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years in technical program management, particularly with a focus on cloud technologies and infrastructure. Proven success in managing large-scale programs across multiple organizations.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Comprehensive understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
    • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, various contract types, cost management, and optimization strategies.
  • Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage complex technical programs and projects effectively.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership Qualities: Demonstrated capability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive organizational change.
