Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Heiltsuk Hospital in Bella Bella, BC. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food to patients, residents, and clients in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of food products, including soups, sauces, meats, fish, poultry, and desserts, following established menus and recipes.
- Portion and serve food items to patients, residents, and clients, ensuring high-quality presentation and service.
- Operate kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, and dishwashers, to prepare and cook food.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
About the Team
Heiltsuk Hospital is a 14-bed hospital that provides a range of medical services to the community. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality patient care and service, and we are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team.
Requirements
- Graduation from a recognized 12-month program in cooking or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Successful completion of Food Safe I.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, residents, and clients, as well as other kitchen staff and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, as well as stand for long periods of time.
