Finance Professional

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Co-op Student to join our Utilities Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with month-end close-off process, including preparation of journal entries, financial statements, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly management reports, including financial statements and variance analysis.
- Perform inter-company reconciliations and confirmations with other Aecon divisions.
- Assist with joint-venture billings and associated reconciliations.
- Conduct account analysis and prepare working papers and schedules.
- Prepare joint-venture financial statements for JV partners.
- Perform reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Develop and maintain Excel reporting models for monthly and quarterly reporting.
- Assist with business plan and quarterly forecast preparation, including data entry and maintenance in the accounting system.
- Support interim and year-end audit and reporting requirements.
- Assist with year-end tax worksheets and client reporting.
- Document and implement process improvements within the area of responsibility.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as required.
- Related post-secondary education, working towards an Accounting or Finance designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
- Excellent organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and with a sense of urgency.
- Effective time management to meet commitments to internal and external clients.
- Excellent communication skills.
