Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document patient care, ensuring a high level of quality and safety.
    • Provide case management and counseling services to patients and their families, promoting a culture of client-centered care.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, adhering to the standards of practice set by the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
    • Develop and continuously evaluate individual nursing care plans, ensuring modifications as needed to meet patient needs.
    • Engage in therapeutic relationships with patients and their families, supporting and guiding them in their recovery planning.
    • Facilitate and participate in educational or therapeutic groups, promoting a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
    • Ensure patients and their families have been provided with information conducive to optimal outcomes, promoting patient autonomy and empowerment.
    • Act as a patient advocate, promoting an environment conducive to open communication and professionalism.
    • Maintain knowledge of treatments, equipment, and supplies pertinent to the service, ensuring a high level of quality and safety.
    • Act as a role model, working collaboratively with other team members to promote a culture of teamwork and respect.
    • Evaluate and communicate special patient needs and/or staffing needs to ensure safe and quality care provision.
  • Educational/Human Resources
    • Maintain personal certification skills required for the role, ensuring a high level of competence and expertise.
    • Model professionalism, maintaining standards of practice and professional boundaries as determined by the service and the Nurses Association of New Brunswick.
    • Act in a leadership role for other professional and non-professional staff, promoting a culture of leadership and mentorship.
    • Assist with and support the orientation of new staff, ensuring a smooth transition into the role.
    • Assist with educating patients, families, staff, and the community, promoting a culture of education and awareness.
    • Support the preceptorship program, ensuring a high level of quality and safety in patient care.
