Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Fundraising and Public Relations, the Senior Development Officer plays a crucial role in securing major gifts, capital funding, and planned gifts to support our mission. This individual will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on cultivating relationships with donors and driving impactful contributions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for major gift fundraising, targeting individuals, corporations, and foundations to secure funding for critical initiatives, including the development of Mathias Place and other essential projects.
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential donors who align with our mission and have the capacity to make significant contributions.
- Create personalized cultivation plans and facilitate meaningful interactions between donors and key stakeholders, such as the Executive Director and members of the Capital Campaign Committee.
- Prepare compelling proposals that articulate the impact of donor support and inspire generosity.
- Craft persuasive communications materials, including solicitation letters, meeting requests, presentations, acknowledgments, and stewardship reports.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising team to develop donor proposals, acknowledgments, and stewardship materials that reflect our values and cultivate lasting relationships.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a communication plan to enhance the visibility and appreciation of Good Shepherd Centres' work.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding donor information and all sensitive organizational data.
- Provide guidance and support to students, interns, volunteers, or temporary staff assigned to assist with fundraising efforts.
- Manage donor visits and solicitations in collaboration with the committee, Board Members, and senior colleagues as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Fundraising and Public Relations.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary education in fundraising or non-profit management is preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in a campaign/major gifts fundraising role.
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to analyze data, produce reports, and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a hospitable and respectful demeanor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse audiences.
