Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Operate test equipment, perform tests, and determine compliance with requirements, recommending certification as necessary.
  • Conduct routine tests independently and assist in complex or unusual tests under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Record technical data, draft reports, and write product descriptions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to summarize test results and relate them to product specifications.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments as required, communicating effectively and efficiently.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples, hook up laboratory test equipment, and operate most laboratory test equipment.
  • Identify and record discrepancies in products, referring them to senior staff or the Certifier as necessary.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment, and work areas, performing assigned laboratory clean-up duties.
  • Develop knowledge of basic test equipment operation and may be required to purchase tools or equipment from outside shops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Requirements:

  • 3-year Engineering Technician (OACETT) or equivalent degree.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology.
  • 3-4 years of related experience.
  • Related certification to the field, such as Wire and Cable Product.
