Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist to join our Mine Engineering team at Gibraltar Mines Limited. As a Senior Geologist, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mine.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and guide Geologists, Geologists in training, and technical staff in day-to-day operations.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements.
- Perform reconciliation analysis between resources, reserves, mine, and mill numbers.
- Control costs with respect to mine geology activities.
- Interact with other Mine Engineering team members and operations groups to maintain daily production rates and relay information on operating guidelines, compliance regulations, and policies.
- Recommend and contribute to the development of alternative procedures, methods, and policies to improve performance, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational requirements.
- Manage and maintain databases integrity and review data quality.
- Work closely with the Mine Engineering and Metallurgy groups on initiatives to better understand Geological factors which impact production and recovery, and their distribution within the resource.
Requirements
Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license.
Geological experience mapping and logging of porphyry or similar deposit types would be an asset.
Experience with 3D geological modelling and resource estimation is an asset.
Experience supervising others is an asset.
Strong interdepartmental communication skills.
Able to change and re-prioritize tasks as new information is gathered.
Strong ability to self-learn.
Able to work independently or within a group.
6+ years of related experience, Open pit experience is preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Office, Mineplan, Datashed, Leapfrog Geo, and Wenco would be an asset.
Education
Degree or similar education in Geology/Geological Engineering.
Registered, or Eligible to register, as a with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia.
