Senior Geologist Job Description

As a Senior Geologist, you will play a key role in ensuring the success of our Mine Engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise and guide Geologists, Geologists in training, and technical staff in their day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with Gibraltar health and safety policies and regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor Geologists and technical staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Prepare and review technical reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform reconciliation analysis between resources, reserves, mine, and mill numbers to ensure accurate data.
  • Control costs related to mine geology activities and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Interact with other Mine Engineering team members and operations groups to maintain daily production rates and ensure compliance with operating guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Recommend and contribute to the development of alternative procedures, methods, and policies to improve performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational requirements.
  • Manage and maintain databases integrity and review data quality to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Work closely with the Mine Engineering and Metallurgy groups on initiatives to better understand Geological factors that impact production and recovery.
Requirements:
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Geological experience mapping and logging of porphyry or similar deposit types.
  • Experience with 3D geological modelling and resource estimation.
  • Experience supervising others.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Mineplan, Datashed, Leapfrog Geo, and Wenco.
  • Degree or similar education in Geology/Geological Engineering.
