About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant at The School House Early Care & Learning Centre INC. As an ECE Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our child care centre and contributing to the development of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in Child Care Programs: Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties, develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain a Safe and Healthy Environment: Maintain daycare equipment, ensure the overall situation of the children is synthesized and communicated to parents, and assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Support Early Childhood Educators: Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, encourage children to express creativity through various media, and engage children in activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
  • Prepare Meals and Snacks: Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
  • Communicate with Parents: Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors and discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
  • Meet Licensing Regulations: Knowledge of licensing regulations and establish guidelines for behaviour.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 1 to less than 7 months of experience.
  • Language and Communication: English language proficiency and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Physical Demands: Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Punctuality, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics, creativity, honesty, and ability to multitask.
