Position Overview
The Clinical Pharmacist plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications within the healthcare system. Reporting to the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services, this position is responsible for overseeing drug distribution systems and providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in and manage drug distribution for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Supervise pharmacy support staff and address drug-related issues effectively.
- Conduct thorough drug regimen reviews and medication reconciliations.
- Monitor pharmacokinetics and provide individualized patient medication education.
- Engage in medical rounds and collaborate with the medical team to make therapeutic recommendations.
- Assist in the training and orientation of pharmacy students and other healthcare personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program is preferred.
- Current licensure to practice Pharmacy in the relevant province.
- A minimum of two years of clinical experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy and effective communication skills.
- Ability to provide timely and accurate recommendations regarding medication use.
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with a preference for French.
Work Schedule
- Long-term assignment with a commitment of 75 hours bi-weekly.
- Duration of approximately one year.
