Claims Assessment Specialist - City of Regina
Under the supervision of the Risk Manager, the Claims Assessment Specialist is tasked with the examination and management of claims related to the City of Regina, focusing on establishing accountability and facilitating effective resolution of claims. This position requires adept handling of sensitive situations, clear communication of decisions, and the provision of risk management support.
Primary Responsibilities
- Receive and evaluate claims from diverse sources.
- Assess data to ascertain the City’s liability.
- Engage in negotiations to conclude claims with involved parties.
- Seek recovery for damages incurred to City assets.
- Participate in judicial processes as necessary.
- Support the insurance renewal procedures.
- Offer guidance on matters related to claims.
- Execute additional related duties as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or diploma in a relevant field along with insurance certification.
- 2-3 years of experience in claims adjustment.
- Familiarity with claims management and the insurance sector.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
- Capacity to make autonomous decisions and perform under pressure.
Working Conditions
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.
- Additional prerequisites include a criminal background check and verification of educational credentials.
- Competency evaluations may be conducted.
