We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at DeafBlind Ontario Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing personalized support to individuals who are deafblind or have low vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic support to individuals, tailoring services to their unique needs, communication methods, and goals.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals, ensuring their needs and goals are met.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, family members, and guardians to provide seamless support.
  • Utilize various communication methods, including ASL, SEE, and LSQ, to facilitate effective communication.
  • Follow medical treatment plans and complete required documentation.
  • Assist individuals in realizing their potential, embodying the philosophy of 'do with not for.'
  • Prepare and assist with meal preparation, adhering to dietary requirements.
  • Implement behavioral strategies, tracking and reporting progress.
  • Provide personal care, including lifts, transfers, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist with managing personal finances, budgeting, and maintaining financial records.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-year post-secondary education.
  • Up to one year of related work experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
