Position: Clinical Practice Lead for Behavioral Health Consulting
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time (1.0 FTE, 37.5 hours/week)
We are looking for a dedicated Clinical Practice Lead to oversee the Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) team within our Mental Health division. This role involves direct reporting to the Program Manager and focuses on providing essential education, mentorship, and support to our mental health professionals on a daily basis.
As the Clinical Practice Lead, your collaboration with the Clinical Program Manager will be crucial in offering guidance and professional support to the BHC team. Key responsibilities will include organizing clinical orientation and training for new hires, as well as mentoring existing staff to elevate their professional practice. You will play a vital role in driving continuous quality improvement initiatives and ensuring effective communication among the Clinical Manager, BHC team, and other relevant stakeholders. This position requires close cooperation with the broader clinical team, primarily based at the central office during weekdays, with occasional travel to various clinics.
We seek a motivated individual with qualifications as a Registered Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Psychologist, or Social Worker, who possesses certification in Behavioral Health Consulting and is well-versed in the mental health and social support systems within the community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for change management, expertise in facilitation and healthcare education, and proficiency in clinical practices and relevant software applications. Success in this role hinges on the ability to cultivate effective relationships with both staff and stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Education and Support:
- Coordinate and manage clinical orientation for new BHC and mental health team members, including the development of educational content and orientation schedules.
- Provide training on Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and documentation processes.
- Maintain an up-to-date staff education database, ensuring compliance with annual continuing education and certification requirements.
- Promote adherence to clinical practice policies and procedures.
- Act as a resource for team members and the Program Manager, addressing significant issues or performance concerns as needed.
- Offer coaching and feedback on clinical practices, adjusting learning plans as necessary.
- Identify staff development needs and collaborate on professional growth opportunities.
Program Improvement and Standards:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a competency framework.
- Evaluate and procure patient education materials, facilitating their use among clinical staff.
- Ensure clinical practices are aligned with the latest literature and clinical guidelines.
- Contribute to the formulation and upkeep of clinical practice policies and procedures.
- Support clinical teams in maintaining relevant program resources and clinical reference materials.
- Prepare clinical team members for seasonal initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Certification as a Behavioral Health Consultant and relevant work experience.
- Mental Health First Aid/Suicide Prevention training or equivalent crisis management experience.
- Active registration in good standing with the relevant regulatory body.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
Experience:
- Experience in primary care and/or community-based settings.
- Experience in group facilitation or instruction.
- Strong knowledge of community-based resources.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with addiction, mental health, and trauma-informed care practices.
- Understanding of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), assertive community treatment (ACT), and motivational interviewing is preferred.
- Experience in health education and chronic disease management is an asset.
- Understanding of relevant health policy frameworks is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and adaptable to new technologies.
- A criminal record check with a vulnerable sector check is required.
