Position Overview
The University of Ottawa is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Health and Physical Education Specialist at the Intermediate/Senior level. This position requires a strong educational background and specialized knowledge in Physical Education and Health.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in education.
- Specialization in Physical Education and Health at the Intermediate/Senior Division; additional specialization is advantageous.
- Experience in facilitating professional development related to the Ontario Curriculum within the last two years.
- Current leadership role in promoting professional learning for educators regarding Health and Physical Education.
- Active participation in a professional network focused on Physical Education.
- Experience in delivering Intermediate/Senior Physical Education and Health Additional Qualification (AQ) courses.
- Membership or leadership role in an educational professional organization.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing Physical Education and Health programs in Ontario classrooms over the past five years.
- Ability to apply the Ethical Standards and the Standards of Practice of the Teaching Profession in Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will focus on:
- Enhancing leadership capabilities in physical and health education within the Intermediate and Senior divisions.
- Facilitating the implementation of the current Ontario curriculum, board policies, and guidelines.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs.
- Modeling exemplary practices to cater to the diverse needs of learners.
- Building networks within educational institutions and the broader community.
- Creating strategies for the integration of technology in educational practices.
- Providing consultation and support to enhance learning outcomes.
Additional Information
An acceptable level of education and/or experience may be considered equivalent to the required qualifications and demonstrated experience.
