ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Engineering Operations Director will be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of our mining operations by promoting the implementation of industry best practices and ensuring the uniformity and standardization of technical, reporting, and budgeting processes throughout the organization.

This position requires collaboration with the corporate development team, providing essential mining engineering insights to support strategic initiatives, including property acquisitions and integration activities.

ABOUT YOU

You will serve as a vital partner to the COO, combining deep technical knowledge with strong leadership skills and strategic vision. This role transcends traditional management; it involves fostering close relationships with our mining sites and cultivating a culture of teamwork and respect.

Your ability to integrate technical and managerial expertise with a forward-thinking approach will align engineering operations with the company's overarching business goals, ensuring sustainable growth and operational success.

As a champion of Health & Safety, you will prioritize safety in every aspect of operations, driving sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and a commitment to the well-being of our workforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Support: Offer hands-on assistance in all facets of Mining Engineering, including rock mechanics, ground control, ventilation, planning, drilling, and blasting.
  • Process Optimization: Streamline and standardize operational reporting processes across all sites to enhance consistency and efficiency.
  • Financial Planning: Collaborate with site leadership to create annual budgets and life of mine (LOM) plans that align with strategic objectives.
  • Reserve Management: Provide expert mining guidance for annual Reserve updates, acting as Qualified Person (QP) when site expertise is unavailable.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate knowledge sharing among operations to encourage best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Professional Growth: Engage in the development of engineering personnel through coaching and mentoring on industry standards and best practices.
  • Corporate Development Contribution: Provide mining engineering insights for Corporate Development evaluations, supporting property acquisitions and integration activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Postgraduate qualifications are an asset.
  • Membership in a recognized professional organization (P.Eng. or equivalent).
  • At least 15 years of operational experience in mining engineering and management with a robust technical background, preferably in rock mechanics.
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Project Management proficiency in overseeing large-scale engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Change Management skills to lead organizational transformations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Business Development experience collaborating with corporate teams on growth strategies.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills to align engineering operations with broader corporate objectives.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for reporting to the COO and engaging with key stakeholders.
