In the Senior Project Manager, Solar Independent Engineering position, you will engage in a diverse range of solar and solar + storage initiatives across North America. You will gain exposure to the complete project lifecycle, collaborating with leading developers and financiers in the sector while utilizing cutting-edge technology. Key responsibilities include supporting major client accounts, conducting project due diligence, managing projects, enhancing processes, sharing insights, gathering feedback, and engaging in business development, including proposal creation. Our teams handle projects of all sizes, allowing you to focus on residential, distributed generation, or utility-scale systems based on your expertise and interests.

In this role, our team delivers technical consulting and independent engineering services to solar project developers, financial institutions, and investors who depend on our reports for informed investment decisions.
This position is based at our DNV offices, offering a dynamic hybrid work schedule where employees typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and coordinate the technical review process among internal specialists, including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, and permitting teams, while synthesizing and drafting due diligence reports.
- Oversee overall project management activities, ensuring excellent client communication as the primary contact for executing due diligence engagements.
- Conduct portions of due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model evaluations, and synthesizing inputs from technical disciplines, along with other analyses within your area of expertise.
- Engage in discussions to resolve complex technical issues with project developers, lenders, and investors, coordinating input from internal technical specialists as needed.
- Develop and secure proposals for scopes of services related to due diligence work.
- Coordinate or conduct DNV construction monitoring and site visit activities.
- Guide clients through the financial closing processes of projects.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including leading tool development, refining processes, digitization efforts, and lessons learned activities.
- Advance team and industry thought leadership.
- Mentor team members and guide them through the aforementioned tasks.
- Provide strategic leadership, including resource planning, interpreting market trends, and developing service offerings.
- Foster business development by managing key client relationships, attracting new customers, attending conferences, and engaging in industry networking, while developing and securing proposals for scopes of services.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, energy, or a related field.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in the solar industry.
- Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) and adept project and time management abilities, including the capacity to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Solution-oriented mindset and high integrity.
- Strong understanding of energy industry technologies (modules, inverters, mounting systems/trackers, balance of system, etc.).
- Working knowledge of the solar project financing process (direct experience preferred).
- A supportive and proactive team member, eager to collaborate in a team environment.
- A proven commitment to health, safety, and environmental practices.
- Pre-employment background and drug screenings will be conducted.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: solar industry construction and operating contracts, solar project construction, operations/asset management, solar project design/development, module/inverter technology, energy assessment, power marketing/offtake contracting, energy storage technology and implementation, market research/policy, or independent engineering functions.
- Familiarity with various contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, subscription, and/or asset management contracts).
- Experience with budgets and financial models.
- Working knowledge of PVsyst and solar energy assessment tools.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code.
- Project management certification or relevant experience.
- Experience in industry thought leadership.
- Knowledge of energy storage systems.
