About the Role

As a Cybercrime Investigator at Scotiabank - Global Banking and Markets, you will be a key member of our team responsible for managing internal and external computer forensic investigations. You will work closely with our Director of Cyber & Security Investigations to ensure the effective collection and analysis of electronic evidence, and its use in administrative actions and criminal prosecutions when required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Digital Forensic Services: Examine computers and other digital devices, preserve and recover digital evidence, extract electronic mail, and examine databases using specialized forensic software and hardware.
  • Maintain Chain of Custody: Ensure that all evidence recovery and collection methods are conducted, managed, and archived in a manner consistent with preserving and protecting data and evidence in its original form.
  • Manage Large Data Sets: Identify, acquire, recover, cleanse, mine, and secure large sets of electronically stored information.
  • Perform Comprehensive Technical Analyses: Interpret computer-related evidence such as e-mail, accounting software, databases, and information stored on electronic devices.
  • Plan and Manage Investigations: Conduct electronic discovery, digital forensic, and information/cyber security investigations, and related services for large data sets.
  • Investigate Service Impacts: Identify security control issues and understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Provide Advisory Services: Enhance Information and Cyber Security engagements by translating complex technical problems into terms and processes that support the functional goals, strategic initiatives, and business alignment of a dynamic growth company.
  • Optimize Performance: Ensure optimal performance of cyber and forensic investigations requests for legal and corporate matters, using industry standards and proprietary methodologies.
  • Continuously Improve Processes: Provide feedback to areas under review regarding control issues and continue to improve processes.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of current and working knowledge in all aspects of digital forensics, civil and criminal investigation, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of 2 years of documented and relevant experience.
  • Professional certifications and membership of associations in the field of information/cyber security and digital forensics is desired.
