About the Role

The Home Support Worker (HSW) reports to the Assisted Living Clinical Manager or their designee. You will provide holistic and high-quality care to our residents, working as an integral part of our team. Your role involves adhering to established policies and procedures while upholding the rights of residents and ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Implement personalized care plans for each resident.
  • Provide personal care services, including medication assistance, bathing, grooming, dressing, meal assistance, oral hygiene, and other care duties as needed.
  • Respond promptly to call bell alarms from residents.
  • Observe and monitor residents' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes. Report any significant observations or unscheduled care requests.
  • Collaborate with residents to organize and maintain their living spaces, ensuring their wishes and needs are met.
  • Encourage and assist residents in participating in social, physical, spiritual, and recreational activities.
  • Maintain a current understanding of community policies and procedures, particularly those related to emergency protocols, equipment management, and safe work practices.
  • Participate actively in community and educational programs.
  • On night shifts, perform housekeeping duties according to the established routine.
  • Work collaboratively and positively with all team members and supervisors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduation from a recognized Care Aide Program.
  • Active registration with the British Columbia Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
  • Valid First Aid Level 1 certification and current CPR.
  • Medication Administration Certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a care community is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, understanding both verbal and written instructions.
  • All successful applicants must pass a vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check as per Provincial guidelines.
  • Must be in good health, physically capable of performing repetitive tasks, lifting, squatting, bending, standing, and walking as required to fulfill the duties of this position.
