The Mechanical Maintenance Scheduler will report directly to the Mill Chief Planner and will be tasked with developing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing maintenance and project schedules for our operations. This role will focus on integrating asset management strategies and refining planning processes to boost service quality, data precision, efficiency, and safety in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities
1. Development of Maintenance Plans:
- Create comprehensive mechanical maintenance strategies.
- Plan and issue work orders, including task lists, standard operating procedures, permits, resource allocation, materials, tools, costs, and scheduling.
- Formulate work packages that detail task conditions, constraints, hazard controls, labor, equipment, materials, and timelines.
- Contribute to project work packages for shutdowns, ensuring proper scope identification and milestone coordination.
- Maintain a robust maintenance backlog with a ready-to-schedule job queue.
- Document maintenance activities and ensure accurate data capture through the CMMS to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Address planning challenges, including operational needs, parts availability, and equipment issues.
- Revise preventive maintenance requirements based on feedback and completed work orders.
- Seek opportunities to enhance work package requirements while minimizing costs without compromising safety or quality.
- Conduct worksite inspections and lead safety observations.
- Facilitate planning meetings to prioritize maintenance tasks.
2. Commitment to Operational Excellence:
- Adhere to IAMGOLD's asset management processes and quality standards.
- Follow all safety protocols and practices.
- Propose innovative methods to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Identify inefficiencies proactively and implement improvements in the maintenance planning department.
- Assist in the development and revision of policies for the planning and scheduling department.
- Engage in continuous learning to enhance skills as a Maintenance Planner.
- Collaborate effectively to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Evaluate risks across multiple dimensions, including throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost.
- Monitor performance against maintenance plans and report any discrepancies.
- Participate in the budgeting process using a zero-based approach.
- Prepare forecasts for maintenance activities on various timelines.
- Ensure maintenance records and materials lists are current and accurate.
3. Collaborative Work Environment:
- Coordinate with reliability teams to develop maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
- Work with technical departments to mitigate production and maintenance delays.
- Facilitate communication between production, maintenance, and technical services teams.
- Understand production schedules and collaborate with supervisors and engineers on maintenance activities.
- Support negotiations for maintenance contracts and services.
- Engage with team members to ensure timely feedback and implementation of solutions.
- Assist in managing outsourced maintenance requests.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary scheduling meetings.
- Coordinate with supply chain partners for efficient collaboration.
- Support the implementation of maintenance systems during construction and commissioning phases.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Report any deficiencies to the appropriate team members for resolution.
- Engage in multi-disciplinary teams to fulfill commitments to stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in processing plant maintenance or asset management.
- Experience in maintenance routines, mechanical, welding, or electrical work is advantageous.
- A strong desire to learn about maintenance planning and scheduling best practices.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective time management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise judgment within established practices and policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and empower diverse teams.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
