TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is representing a prominent Building Materials Manufacturer specializing in custom products for Commercial Construction clients across Canada. The Procurement & Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing purchasing strategies, supplier negotiations, supplier relations, strategic process enhancements, inventory oversight, cost management, and documentation. This position plays a vital role in managing costs and enhancing quality within the Supply Chain division. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the ideal candidate will possess prior experience in custom manufacturing, a solid grasp of materials planning and procurement, and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:Manage the organization’s procurement and inventory planning activities to optimize costs while ensuring quality, reliability of supply, and timely delivery.Maintain and set up ERP systems for accuracy.Conduct vendor management and performance evaluations.Identify market trends and commodity impacts to proactively mitigate risks related to materials, costs, and quality through thorough sales analysis.Establish and uphold performance improvement metrics for suppliers.Ensure all raw materials comply with required quality standards and specifications.Guide, mentor, and support junior procurement staff.Assist in assessing and negotiating significant supplier relationships to secure favorable terms for the organization.Collaborate with production teams to determine inventory selection, quantities, and lead times while maintaining precise inventory records.Analyze costs and forecasts for production planning in conjunction with management.Initiate continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction and quality enhancement.Develop and implement clear supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).Ensure efficient management of all inbound logistics.Work closely with internal stakeholders including Production, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, Marketing, and Sales.Ensure the accuracy and quality of inventory, updating the system promptly to reflect all goods received and maintaining accurate Bill of Materials (BOM).Conduct inventory audits and verify the accuracy of ERP system data.
Ideal Candidate Profile:Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Procurement is preferred.APICS certification is a plus.A minimum of 7 years of experience in supply chain, purchasing, or inventory management, with a preference for candidates with manufacturing experience.Previous leadership experience is advantageous.Familiarity with lean principles, including Value-Stream Mapping, is beneficial.Experience with ERP/MRP systems.Detail-oriented with strong follow-through capabilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks based on departmental needs.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective organizational abilities.Strong planning and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and follow-through.
