Position Overview: Are you an actuary passionate about leveraging data science? In the role of Actuary & Lead Data Scientist, you will spearhead the transformation of actuarial analysis through innovative analytics and artificial intelligence. Your mission will be to design and execute analytics-driven solutions that enhance business operations, yield insights, and align with strategic objectives. You will manage and deliver complex projects tailored to actuarial and financial datasets, including experience assessments, reserve predictions, and risk evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Actuarial Innovation: Lead initiatives in AI and advanced analytics that redefine actuarial and financial operations, emphasizing critical areas like risk evaluation and financial forecasting.
  • Creative Solutions for Business Needs: Collaborate with internal actuarial and business leaders to provide innovative, analytics-based insights that address intricate business challenges.
  • Comprehensive Analytics Deployment: Create and implement cutting-edge analytics solutions that improve business workflows, generate financial insights, and deliver substantial organizational benefits.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside actuarial stakeholders, business operations, and IT teams to integrate your solutions seamlessly into existing processes.
  • Enhancement of Actuarial Procedures: Assess and refine current actuarial methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement through advanced analytics.
  • Thorough Data Examination: Utilize extensive actuarial, financial, and diverse data sources to construct sophisticated models for risk evaluation and financial forecasting.
  • Thought Leadership: Provide insights by researching and applying new analytics techniques, tools, and data pertinent to actuarial science.
  • Empowerment of Non-Professional Analysts: Facilitate non-professional data analysts in effectively interpreting actuarial and financial data.
  • Impact Assessment and Communication: Evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of models and solutions, clearly conveying their value to stakeholders.
  • Mentorship and Team Collaboration: Review the work of fellow data scientists, engage in model and code evaluations, and mentor junior team members.

Qualifications:

  • Actuarial Credentials: Actuarial designation (FSA, FCIA) with substantial experience in progressive actuarial roles.
  • Educational Qualifications: Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of the role; proficiency in SQL, Python, and actuarial software such as R or SAS is essential.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Self-motivated with the capacity to work independently, particularly in data science.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Strong leadership and coaching capabilities for a team of actuarial professionals.
  • Decision-Making Skills: Responsible for decisions regarding employment, compensation, performance evaluations, training, and development.
  • Adaptability: Maintains composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, and influence effectively.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Strong focus on customer satisfaction and commitment to quality.

The annual base salary for this position is competitive.
