POSITION PURPOSE:

  • Oversee a safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance program for work equipment within the designated territory.
  • Organize and manage resources dedicated to the upkeep of work machinery and vehicles, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Plan and execute all repair activities related to work equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of maintenance personnel to guarantee the reliability of work equipment as instructed by the Work Equipment Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to CPKC's safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor financial outcomes in alignment with assigned budgets.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment and assess inspection reports.
  • Implement process improvements to achieve ongoing operational enhancements.
  • Prepare and manage condition reports for all work equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment work orders and maintenance activities.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across functional teams within the assigned area.
  • Oversee inventory levels to maintain safety stock.
  • Guide and mentor maintenance staff and machine operators to enhance their performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in railway work equipment maintenance.
  • Preferred: Journeyman certification as a heavy-duty mechanic.
  • Proven ability to apply relevant knowledge and technical skills to ensure compliance with CPKC policies and regulatory standards.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with CPKC systems, such as SAP.
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring key performance metrics are met during both emergency and routine operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Skill in influencing peers and cross-functional managers.
