Position Overview

The Telesat Lightspeed System Configuration Management Specialist will serve as a key member of the Systems Engineering team, particularly collaborating with the System Integration, Verification, and Validation team. This role is situated within the Configuration Management Office, providing support to the Configuration Management Office and various segment Project Managers and Leads involved in the Lightspeed Program.

Main Responsibilities

  • System Configuration Management: Focus on meticulous management of hardware and software development environments, ensuring accuracy in program technical data.
  • Familiarity with ITAR processes.
  • Oversee configuration baselines, maintaining a single source of truth for elements feeding into the Verification Team to manage the technical baseline.
  • Be the custodian of all documentation that defines the configuration and verification status of the system.
  • Control and document hardware and software configurations as built.
  • Collaborate closely with program execution and engineering teams.
  • Utilize configuration management tools for identification, control, status accounting, verification, audits, product release, and delivery, while providing solutions to various configuration management challenges.

Document and Requirements Management:

  • Ensure vendor deliverable documentation is identified and tracked according to schedule.
  • Track internal Telesat data requirements, including the release of all Technical Requirements Documents, Interface Requirement Documents, and Interface Control Documents.
  • Resolve data issues, distribute schedule notices for pending data submissions, and create status reports for management review.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement processes for requirements management in engineering tools.
  • Advocate for continuous process improvements.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills.
  • Deliver clear and concise presentations to various audience levels, including management.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science, or a relevant college degree.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in an engineering design environment, collaborating with hardware, systems, software, and test engineers.
  • Proficiency in software configuration management processes and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of related experience in data management or configuration management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary, high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in leading meetings and facilitating group discussions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.

Note: The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
