Providence Health Care is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Coding Standards & Data Quality Specialist to join our team. This role will provide leadership and guidance to the coding team, ensuring compliance with industry standards and procedures.

Summary
  • Provides expert guidance and mentorship to the coding team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in Health Information Management coding practices, providing accurate and timely coding solutions.
  • Ensures strict adherence to established coding standards and procedures, maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops and delivers engaging training programs for coding staff, enhancing their knowledge and skills.
Qualifications / Skills and Education
  • Graduation from an accredited Health Information Management program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient and surgical coding.
  • Certified Health Information Manager (CHIM) with active CHIMA membership.
Skills and Abilities
  • In-depth understanding of quality assurance techniques and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in report writer tools and a comprehensive knowledge of coding standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, mentorship, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, ensuring clear and concise information dissemination.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Leads coding and data quality initiatives, driving continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Develops comprehensive training materials and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective knowledge transfer.
  • Implements new coding standards and updates, staying abreast of industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Actively contributes to data quality improvement programs and audit processes, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of health information.
