Your Role
We are looking for a proactive, self-driven, and collaborative Project Manager to enhance our Yukon operations.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with clients to offer strategic insights and have the rewarding chance to effect meaningful change through projects that improve access to housing, clean water, education, and community infrastructure. Our team is dedicated to enhancing outcomes where people reside while promoting opportunities for reconciliation, economic participation, climate resilience, and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities
- Enhance the communities you serve by respecting local knowledge and the customs and culture of the populations you engage with, including Indigenous communities.
- Exemplify company values and cultural behaviors.
- Empower and mentor Assistant Project Managers (APMs) involved in your projects.
- Establish a personal brand rooted in your expertise and enthusiasm.
- Engage with diverse client groups across public and private sectors, including Indigenous Governing Bodies, community organizations, local authorities, and government entities.
- Consult with community leaders and Rights and Title Holders, funding partners, and design and construction professionals to strategize and execute capital building and infrastructure initiatives.
- Assist Indigenous communities and local authorities in fostering economic growth through strategic land planning and development.
- Support Indigenous communities and local authorities in emergency preparedness and recovery from climate-related events.
- Be recognized as a valued and trusted team member and a subject matter expert in contractual matters.
- Oversee project setup, initiation, execution, monitoring, reporting, closure, and commissioning.
- Lead and coordinate project teams towards shared objectives, establishing authority levels and communication channels.
- Provide project status updates through progress reports, meeting notes, and other communications.
- Facilitate project and site meetings.
- Utilize your communication skills and eagerness to learn to grasp complex technical terminology.
- Maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients, responding to new business opportunities with support from the Business Development Team, Principal, or Regional Vice President.
- Your clients trust your expertise to help them achieve their business goals and objectives.
- Your clients appreciate your ability to advocate for their interests regarding contractual and technical challenges.
- Your project teams depend on your capacity to manage change, communicate effectively, and coordinate among multiple partners and stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in capital project management.
- A university degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, or construction management (or equivalent).
- Exemplify company values and cultural behaviors.
- Advanced knowledge of Project Management methodologies and experience in a PMO environment.
- Familiarity with building codes, contracts, regulations, construction administration, and ethics.
- In-depth understanding of various design and construction methodologies, project management models, financial management, contract law, and relevant legislation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Effective client and personnel management skills, with the ability to influence others and resolve various commercial, personnel, client, and technical issues.
- Ability to foster harmonious relationships with both internal and external project team members.
- Professional industry credentials such as PMP, P.Eng., CET, RA, or similar recognized designations.
- Preference for candidates with experience working respectfully in cross-cultural settings, particularly with Indigenous communities.
- Experience in building and maintaining long-term client relationships and collaborating with Local Governments and First Nations is a significant asset.
