Job Title: MSSQL DBA + Performance Tuning Expert

Job Summary:

Astra North Infoteck Inc. is seeking a highly skilled MSSQL DBA + Performance Tuning Expert to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our SQL Server databases, identifying and resolving performance issues, and providing expert-level support to our development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-priority support for production database outages and ensure timely resolution.
  • Develop and implement database performance tuning strategies to optimize query execution and improve overall database performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server performance issues.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database security, backup, and recovery processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server technologies and best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior team members on database administration and performance tuning.

Requirements:

  • Deep understanding of SQL Server internals, including indexing, partitioning, and replication technologies.
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools, such as Performance Monitor and SQL Profiler.
  • Strong knowledge of T-SQL, query execution plans, and concurrency issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSSQL DBA certification.
  • Experience with Azure SQL databases.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
