We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Medicine Physician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver High-Quality Patient Care: Ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients, including routine check-ups, health screenings, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
- Manage Patient Workload: Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of patient care services.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Providers: Continuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or community, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
- Provide Community-Based Care: Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level health care, and build to capacity within the first two years.
- Operate within Healthcare Guidelines: Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority.
- Ensure Same-Day Access: Work toward same day or next day access for the practice population.
- Collaborate with Team Members: Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs.
- Provide After-Hours Access: Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required.
- Participate in Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities, utilizing an electronic medical record (EMR) and recording all relevant patient details.
- Eligibility for Licensure: All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligibility for Certification: All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Emergency Department Experience: Experience working in an emergency department is an asset.
- Advanced Life Support: Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), advanced trauma life support (ATLS), basic life support (BLS), and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certifications are required.
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association: Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is required.
