Position Overview

As a Telecommunications Technician at Smart Telecom and Automation Solutions, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of telecommunications systems.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program lasting 1 to 2 years.
Work Environment
  • Installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems.
  • Work may be conducted at various locations.
  • Relocation expenses are not covered by the employer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and identify faults in telecommunications equipment, making necessary adjustments, replacements, or repairs.
  • Inspect and ensure the proper operation of telecommunications devices.
  • Install, configure, remove, and maintain telephone systems, wiring, and related hardware.
  • Repair or substitute defective telephone apparatus.
  • Conduct tests on installed telephone systems to identify transmission issues.
  • Analyze testing outcomes and modify, change, or repair switching systems, networks, and associated software.
  • Complete and maintain detailed service and testing reports.
  • Identify the nature, cause, and location of technical issues.
  • Install electromechanical, analog, and digital trunking systems, circuits, and equipment in telecommunications facilities.
  • Utilize computerized testing systems to perform service evaluations on customer lines and equipment.
  • Climb and work at heights on poles, ladders, or other support structures.
  • Connect, disconnect, and relocate cable outlets as required.
  • Determine and assign work tasks effectively.
  • Install cable modems and software to facilitate Internet connectivity.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning cables, power supplies, and amplifiers.
Experience Requirements
  • 1 to less than 2 years of relevant experience.
