Shop Foreman Job Description

Brandt is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to join our team at our Olds, AB branch. As a Shop Foreman, you will play a critical role in the effective supervision of our Service Department, ensuring that quality standards and productivity requirements are met in accordance with Service Optimization standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Service Department Employees: Assist with the assignment of jobs and work orders to Service Department employees according to their skills and knowledge.
  • Appraise Repair Orders: Assist in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs. Review repair orders for accuracy and completeness, and stay informed of the progress on all jobs.
  • Point-of-Contact: Act as a point-of-contact for technicians on equipment repair inquiries and updates.
  • Diagnose Machine Problems: Direct and assist in the diagnosis of machine problems of technicians and apprentices.
  • Inspect and Repair Tools: Inspect and repair all special tools. Recommend new tooling as required.
  • Coordinate Training: Coordinate and schedule all in-house technician training.
  • Support Service Advisors: Support Service Advisors by responding to technical questions from customers.
  • Maintain a Safe Working Environment: Demonstrate proper and safe workplace processes and operation of equipment. Maintain good housekeeping discipline for a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 3+ years' experience as a Service Technician, Journeyman certification preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and coach others.
  • Product Knowledge: Familiar with company and competitive products.
  • Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of financial principles related to service department operations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation/conflict resolution, decision making, and delegation skills.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications: Forklift license preferred.
