Position Summary

This role involves performing technical engineering tasks related to the analysis, evaluation, management, planning, documentation, coordination, and inspection of public infrastructure and systems. The position operates under the guidance of a licensed Professional Engineer and includes project management responsibilities for infrastructure initiatives.

Compensation

Minimum: $50,668

Midpoint: $69,950

Maximum: $89,211

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate should have a background in the design of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water systems. Experience in the operation and design of wastewater pumping facilities is essential. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D engineering software is highly desirable, along with expertise in designing pipeline systems using pressure pipe networks within AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on the area of responsibility, the incumbent may perform one or more of the following:

  • Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices to support the planning, design, construction, assessment, management, and maintenance of various municipal projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and permits; prepares and oversees project scopes, budgets, and timelines to guarantee timely project completion.
  • Provides engineering assistance by designing components of projects, systems, and processes, including project documentation.
  • Creates or modifies plans and drawings using computer-aided design tools.
  • Conducts environmental and mapping surveys; performs cost analysis and feasibility assessments.
  • Assists in drafting contracts; evaluates contractor proposals and aids in the review of proposals for engineering services.
  • Engages with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and internal and external personnel to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
  • Analyzes and interprets data; formulates solutions to problems; makes recommendations based on analysis.
  • Participates in project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments, including updates on project schedules and budgets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related field; AND
  • Six years of experience in planning, assessment, design, construction, inspection of public infrastructure projects, or modeling of water, wastewater, stormwater, or traffic systems;

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education (at least a High School diploma/GED), training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above.

Emergency Management Duties

In the event of an emergency or disaster, employees may be required to promptly respond to duties and responsibilities as assigned by their department or relevant emergency management authorities. Such assignments may occur before, during, or after the emergency or disaster.
