Facility Overview: The Public Health Program operates within a supportive clinic environment. The role will involve traveling to various communities to implement public health initiatives and provide essential services to clients.
Position Overview: The Public Health Nurse will leverage their assessment and nursing expertise to support clients in achieving optimal health outcomes. Responsibilities include utilizing assessment techniques, educational strategies, and nursing practices to deliver effective Public Health Nursing services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing education to clients during prenatal and postnatal stages in both group and individual formats;
- Implementing comprehensive health programs within educational institutions;
- Evaluating the health needs of community members, facilitating referrals, and supporting families;
- Delivering pre and postnatal care;
- Managing Communicable Disease Control and Tuberculosis initiatives;
- Offering direct care by assessing health requirements, planning interventions, executing care strategies, and evaluating results;
- Encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and promoting health awareness;
- Acting as an advocate for clients and serving as a liaison between health services and other organizations;
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, with current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS);
- Previous experience in Public Health and/or Acute Care is preferred;
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is advantageous;
- Proficiency in Cree language is a significant asset;
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team;
- Willingness to travel to remote communities;
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License is required;
- Strong problem-solving and organizational capabilities;
- Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills;
- Competency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office;
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-direction;
