The Manager is tasked with delivering leadership and strategic direction for the oversight, utilization, risk management, and enhancement of quality within clinical operations at the Cancer Centre. This role is pivotal in promoting the organization's philosophy and objectives by implementing and assessing standards, policies, practices, and procedures across designated areas; fostering innovative team dynamics; and cultivating a practice environment centered on evidence-based advancements in patient-focused care, which also supports research, education, and training opportunities for both students and staff.

This position oversees the virtual oncology nursing initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strategic priorities and facilitate operational planning and execution for the Cancer Centre in collaboration with practice leaders and the Senior Director of Regional Clinical Operations. Work alongside regional and provincial colleagues, including medical and operational leaders, to promote integrated and patient-centered care.
  • Provide comprehensive leadership and guidance to team members utilizing effective management strategies; engage in the recruitment, retention, supervision, and acknowledgment of staff.
  • Oversee service area operations by coordinating and prioritizing tasks, evaluating staffing needs, and managing supplies. Develop a robust workforce plan in partnership with key stakeholders to ensure adequate staff availability.
  • Prepare and manage an operational budget, monitor discrepancies, and employ best practices in financial reporting and management; coordinate contract management as necessary.
  • Lead the identification of evidence-based outcomes, develop quality indicators and care pathways, ensure adherence to accreditation standards, and coordinate or engage in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related discipline from an accredited institution; clinical nursing experience and a Master's degree are advantageous.
  • 7-10 years of recent and relevant clinical experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Current registration/membership with the appropriate professional college (if applicable) is preferred.

  • Thorough understanding and experience with quality assurance processes, operational planning, and program development.
  • Basic computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, along with the ability to utilize a computerized patient care information system.
