Registered Nurse (N2) - Pediatric Intensive Care UnitPosition Overview
Under the general oversight of the Health Services Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) is tasked with delivering professional nursing care to patients, including those with intricate and unpredictable health conditions. This role encompasses independent nursing duties, administering prescribed medical interventions, leading within the healthcare team, and ensuring the coordination of patient care and discharge processes. The RN demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the healthcare facility.
Experience- Recent relevant experience is advantageous (up to 2 years may be required or preferred).
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program is mandatory.
- Completion of a pertinent post-basic program may be necessary.
- Must maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active involvement in professional organizations, such as the Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM), is preferred.
- CPR certification at the Health Care Provider Level is required.
- Knowledge of:
- Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses as outlined by the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
- Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
- Scope of practice as defined in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines relevant to the facility/unit.
- Nursing care principles pertinent to the clinical area.
- Legislated acts including the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS).
- Roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members.
- Exemplary oral and written communication abilities.
- Preference will be given to candidates proficient in an Indigenous language and/or knowledgeable about Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize care for individual patients or groups.
- Capacity to manage multiple simultaneous demands.
- Willingness to pursue self-development opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Adaptability to rapidly changing situations.
