Position Overview

The Aquatic Supervisor Student will play a crucial role in the execution of aquatic programs, ensuring that staff are appropriately scheduled and that all activities adhere to the established policies and procedures of CK Recreation. This position requires a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while fostering a positive environment for both staff and patrons.

Key Responsibilities

Uphold the core values and competencies of Chatham-Kent Supervise and guide a team of students in a dynamic environment Conduct weekly training sessions and ongoing evaluations for staff Promote teamwork and provide educational leadership Attend all necessary aquatic training sessions and meetings Maintain qualifications and pursue additional training opportunities Oversee swim safety with a focus on incident prevention Instruct various aquatic programs, ensuring safety education and skill development Ensure all lifesaving equipment is operational and ready for use Execute first aid and rescue techniques in accordance with emergency protocols Adhere to the policies outlined in the CKRec Aquatic Manual Maintain a positive public image and address concerns from patrons Assist in pre-season training for all aquatic personnel Participate in the delivery and management of aquatic programs Lead activities and programs with enthusiasm and energy Enforce pool regulations consistently and tactfully Open, close, and maintain cleanliness of the aquatic facility as scheduled Keep accurate records of daily pool activities and incidents Contribute to the final report and budget recommendations Work in various environments, including both indoor and outdoor settings

Required Qualifications

Preference will be given to students in their final year of high school or those enrolled in post-secondary education, with relevant experience in a pool setting Experience in performance evaluations is an asset

Certifications and Licenses

LSSC Swim Instructor certification Standard First Aid with CPR 'C' certification LSSC National Lifeguard – Pool or Red Cross Pool Lifeguard certification High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development certification Additional certifications such as LSSC Lifesaving Instructor or CALA/Water Art Certification are advantageous

Additional Requirements

A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are preferred due to travel requirements A Police Information Search (criminal reference check) is required prior to employment

Physical Requirements

Must meet physical standards for lifeguarding and maintain safety protocols Proper footwear and PPE must be worn at all times Completion of Health & Safety Training for Supervisors is mandatory Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and bending
