About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Analyst to join our Financial Market Risk (FMR) team at Payments Canada. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and design of a new financial risk framework for the clearing and settlement of retail batch payments.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in financial risk, payment products, clearing and settlement, and banking. They will be responsible for providing support for the Future State of Retail Batch (FSRB) project, which is a key priority for Payments Canada over the next few years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the financial risk framework for a clearing and settlement system of retail batch payments that observes the Bank of Canada's Risk Management Standards for Prominent Payment Systems (PPS).
  • Support the development of FSRB Conceptual design and functional requirements related to financial risk for a system that observes the PPS standards and meets the needs of Payments Canada's members and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for project milestones and artifacts, focusing on quality, timeliness, risks, and issues.
  • Support FSRB team members by advising on issues related to payment system financial risks and ensure the mitigation of these risks is appropriately incorporated into project planning and the deliverables of other team members.
  • Engage with Payments Canada's members on issues related to the mitigation and management of financial risks within the system, building consensus, and aligning on the activities required to develop and implement the system.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Risk, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial risk, payment products, clearing and settlement, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of banking, financial markets, risk management, financial market infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting business and/or technical transformation projects.
  • Experience in building and sustaining day-to-day relationships and communications with internal and external partners and resources.
  • Experience preparing and delivering project-related updates to senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data and other business processes to assess financial risk mitigation.
