Animal Health Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Cornwall Animal Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners.
Key Responsibilities- Animal Care and Handling: Safely handle and restrain animals undergoing treatment and surgery, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Assisting Veterinarians: Provide support to veterinarians before, during, and after surgery, as well as assist with medical procedures and examinations.
- Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian, ensuring accurate dosing and treatment.
- Treatment Administration: Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarians, maintaining accurate records and communicating with clients as needed.
- Counseling and Education: Provide guidance and education to clients on animal health care, promoting preventative care and wellness.
- Research and Laboratory Support: Assist with laboratory research and conduct tests as needed, ensuring accurate results and data.
- Dental Care and Support: Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Nursing Care and Rehabilitation: Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals, promoting recovery and well-being.
- Manual Dexterity: Possess excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, ensuring safe and efficient handling of animals and equipment.
- Fast-Paced Environment: Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing stress.
- Physical Demands: Meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, walking, and lifting, as required.
- Excellent Communication: Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, ensuring clear and effective communication with clients, veterinarians, and other team members.
- Initiative and Organization: Demonstrate initiative and organizational skills, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
