Position Overview

The selected candidate will collaborate with diverse project teams to provide leadership in project and task management, as well as technical expertise, primarily for Barr Engineering Co.'s mining clientele, along with other sectors such as heavy industry and energy production. Key responsibilities encompass directing technical evaluations related to water balance assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic studies, and engineering investigations.

This role requires effective interaction and coordination with project teams, which may include mentoring junior engineers, advising clients on strategies for mine water management, delivering environmental consulting services, and generating technical documentation. Additionally, the position involves business development activities through presentations at conferences and proposal submissions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • A decade of relevant experience focusing on mining and water management
  • Professional Engineer registration or eligibility for immediate registration
  • Proficiency in hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality methodologies, including modeling tools such as GoldSim, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS
  • Familiarity with publicly accessible datasets for hydrologic assessments
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated project management capabilities
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada
  • Valid driver's license

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Over ten years of experience in consulting engineering or the mining industry
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Strong client relationships and expertise in water resources engineering for regulatory compliance
  • Specialization in areas such as data analysis, risk-informed decision-making, and due diligence services

This position may offer a hybrid work arrangement, with the primary location being Barr Engineering Co.'s office.

Some assignments may involve challenging terrains or require the handling of equipment. Safety training and drug screening may be prerequisites.
