At Joe Johnson Equipment Barrie, we are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and supervising a team of six accounts payable associates.
About the Role:- Manage and maintain accurate and timely financial statements, including accounts payable processing and general ledger preparation.
- Supervise and train a team of six accounts payable associates, ensuring they are knowledgeable and adhere to JJE Accounting and Financial policies.
- Ensure compliance with invoice approval processes, established procedures, and timelines.
- Monitor payables, liaise with various departments to address approval delays, and assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Oversee all AP activity, review work for accuracy, and sign off on bank reconciliations.
- Maintain relationships with vendors, respond timely to queries, and escalate as needed to support JJE.
- Conduct required month-end tasks, including preparation and review of lead sheets, accrual approvals, and expense analysis.
- Provide annual performance reviews to the accounts payable team, setting goals and development plans.
- Handle personnel issues, including conflict management, absenteeism, and performance issues.
- Champion JJE values and foster a strong, positive team environment with the accounts payable team through regular meetings and communications.
- Post-secondary advanced diploma or degree in finance, accounting, or a related program, or equivalent experience.
- CPA designation is an asset.
- 5+ years' experience in a leadership role within a finance team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, with exceptional Excel skills.
- Experience working with a fully integrated ERP system or accounting software.
