About the Position

The University of Ottawa is seeking a dynamic and experienced Part-Time French Language Professor to contribute to our esteemed academic community. This role offers an opportunity to share your expertise in second language acquisition theories and methodologies with a diverse student body.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures on various aspects of second language acquisition, encompassing theoretical frameworks, learning contexts, learner characteristics (both adult and child), neuro-linguistic considerations, competence development, and the interplay of social and psychological factors.
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that fosters critical thinking, active participation, and meaningful discussions among students.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of methods, including assignments, exams, and class participation, providing constructive feedback to support their growth and development.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Linguistics with a specialization in second language acquisition or a closely related field is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching French as a second language, preferably at the university level.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with students from diverse backgrounds.

Equivalent education or experience may be considered.
