Health Care Aide

This is an exciting chance to provide high-quality patient care at a Long Term Care facility. Located in a small, tight-knit community near the Porcupine Hills, you will have access to various outdoor activities. As a Health Care Aide, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, providing patient care services. Your primary duties will include assisting with daily living tasks, de-escalating residents, working collaboratively with the team, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Job Summary:As a Health Care Aide, you will provide personal assistance, support activities of daily living, and comfort and support services to patients who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers across the continuum of care in home, community, or healthcare facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:- Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
- Confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory
- Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills within a team setting
- Maintains a standard of high-quality care, self-directed and motivated
- Demonstrates a caring attitude towards patients and families, ability to relate to clients in a caring manner with respect and dignity
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members
- Physical ability to assist with lifting, turning, and transferring adult patients
- Experience working with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals
- Ability to utilize safe transferring and lifting equipment
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Non-Violence Crisis Intervention training
- Previous nursing attendant experience in LTC or Supportive Living
