**Job Summary**

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Education Department is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the position of School Service Worker at Bell's Point Elementary School. As a key member of the school community, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and community partners to provide support to students and families.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Identify students who require additional support and develop strategies to address their needs
  • Act as a liaison between parents, schools, and community agencies to ensure effective communication and coordination
  • Navigate the intervention system to provide timely and appropriate support to students and families
  • Work with teachers and administrators to address issues related to truancy, homelessness, abuse and neglect, domestic violence, incarceration, gang activity, substance abuse, mental health and anxiety, teen pregnancy and sexual harassment and assault
  • Provide life skills training and behavior management support to students
  • Make referrals to community resources and programs as needed
  • Engage with students and families to build positive relationships and promote parent involvement in the school
  • Maintain accurate records and report required information to administration
  • Report any evidence of child abuse, neglect, self-harm, substance abuse or other related issues in accordance with school policy
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff, and community partners
  • Conduct assessments of student needs and refer to appropriate agencies
  • Make home visits and conduct regular follow-up calls with students and families
  • Travel may be required to attend meetings and appointments

**Qualifications**

  • Post-secondary diploma in Mental Health and Wellness or equivalent
  • Good understanding of working with children and youth with physical and sensory abilities, cognitive development and emotional stability
  • Knowledge of First Nations and Métis cultures, traditions and family systems
  • Understanding of and experience working with children and youth, and those transitioning into adulthood
  • 0-6 months experience working in schools is an asset
  • Professionalism in areas of punctuality, documentation, organization and phone/email responsiveness
  • MUST have a valid driver's license
  • MUST be able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector Check and SGI Driver's Abstract
