Internship Opportunity in Robotics and Automation

At Pratt & Whitney, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Robotics and Automation Intern. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our experienced engineers and technicians to design, build, and test advanced robotics and automation systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of robotics and automation projects
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze data to inform project decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test robotics and automation systems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports
  • Participate in the development of plans, specifications, and tender documents
  • Assist in the coordination and follow-up of projects
  • Conduct investigations and troubleshoot issues related to production
  • Develop and industrialize production solutions
  • Implement solutions in line with continuous improvement principles and tools
  • Manage and coordinate one-off incidents
  • Provide user training and support
  • Participate in and promote the company's pillars (Environment Health Safety, Ethics and Quality)
Requirements:
  • Good knowledge of industrial robots and basic PLC and HMI programming
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
  • Registration at a Canadian university for the duration of the internship
  • Ability to work locally in the province where hired, if applicable
  • Pursuing studies in Automated Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills in French (spoken/written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (customer service)
  • Team spirit
  • Autonomous (self-taught and able to work with minimal direction)
  • Analytical problem-solving skills
  • Natural curiosity and thirst for learning
Assets:
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Knowledge of industrial robots (e.g. Fanuc, ABB & UR)
  • Good knowledge of FANUC (TPP, Karel) and ABB (Rapid) programming languages
  • Knowledge of Roboguide robotic simulation software
  • Experience with safety issues surrounding automated and robotic systems
  • Knowledge of vision and traceability systems (iRVision, Cognex, Keyence)
  • Knowledge of CAD and reading mechanical drawings
  • Good knowledge of PLCs (AB, Siemens)
  • Knowledge of Ladder, VBScript, C, C# and SQL programming languages
  • Experience in interface design (HMI)
  • Good knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken
Work Environment:

On-site, 5 days/week

This position is part of a French-speaking work environment, but requires a working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
