Position OverviewAECOM is looking for a Senior Structural Engineering Advisor specializing in Highway Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development of comprehensive structural design packages, including detailed drawings, quantity take-offs, contract documentation, and cost estimations.
- Manage structural design projects throughout all phases, from initial planning to final construction.
- Lead efforts in proposal development and collaboration for structural design, assessments, and inspection tasks.
- Provide expertise in design criteria, constructability evaluations, and construction sequencing for various highway infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to define project scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Guide and mentor team members during field reviews and coordinate construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Assist in creating project-specific design standards and specifications utilizing CAD and other design software.
- Facilitate project meetings with clients to ensure alignment and progress.
- Support the preparation of necessary regulatory documentation, permits, environmental assessments, and stakeholder engagement.
- Offer technical mentorship to junior engineers and staff.
- Enhance the skills of team members in structural design according to provincial standards.
- Prepare progress reports on design and construction for clients and project teams.
- Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with clients, contributing to business growth.
- Lead a team of professionals while effectively communicating with clients and subcontractors.
- Identify opportunities for business development and team expansion within the highway engineering sector.
- Implement corporate quality management policies and sustainable practices.
- Support AECOM's vision and key business development initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation infrastructure design, or a Technical Diploma with at least 12 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma in Computer Aided Engineering Design and/or Drafting Technology.
- Certification with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.
- Proven experience in planning and managing the scope and schedule of structural engineering design projects.
- Familiarity with BC Provincial Standard Specifications, BC Bridge Standards, and the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC).
- Knowledge of Master Municipal Construction Documents and BC Building Codes is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret Motor Vehicle and Transportation Acts is a plus.
- Experience in developing and interpreting highway engineering policies, practices, and regulations in British Columbia.
